Dr. Bernd Aechter studied chemistry at the University of Munich, macromolecular chemistry as a major subject, doctoral thesis in the field of organometallic chemistry, author of several scientific publications.Started in the IP field as a trainee in 1998, afterwards six years at BASF AG, global responsibility for patents and license issues of several business units, legal clerkship at a major US law firm.

European Patent Attorney since 2002, German Patent Attorney since 2003, UPC representative since 2023.

Experience in representing chemical and pharmaceutical companies in prosecution and litigation matters, consulting focus is on build-up and maintenance of patent portfolios, furthermore experience in validity and freedom-to-operate opinions and licensing of IP rights.
