Diploma computer scientist Marite Sirava, born 1973, studied computer science at the University of Latvia and the University of Bremen. She was amongst others fellow of the Karl-Nix-Foundation, the Hans-Lenze-Foundation and the International Max Planck Research School for Computer Science. During her studies, Ms. Sirava acquired profound knowledge on various areas of computer science, including the field of databases, artificial intelligence, voice and image processing, efficient algorithms and data structures, operating systems and computer architectures. Furthermore, Ms. Sirava specialized in the field of bioinformatics during interdisciplinary projects in the area of Life Sciences. She earned her diploma at the University of Bremen with Prof. O. Herzog and Prof. H.-J. Kreowski at Technology Center of Computer Science. Her diploma thesis was on Gene Sensors and was a part of a project for developing a DNA chip for classification of hepatitis viruses.
After graduation, Ms. Sirava was a research assistant in the group of Prof. K. Mehlhorn at the Max Planck Institute for Computer Science in Saarbr¸cken and at the Center for Bioinformatics, headed by Prof. H.-P. Lenhof. She was, amongst others, reviewer of articles for various international conferences, held lectures and seminars at the University of Saarland, and developed software for analysis and visualization of biochemical networks. In addition, she was co-author of several scientific publications related to these and other projects.
Since 2005, Ms. Sirava works in the field of intellectual property law. Her technical expertise ranges from mechanics via electronics to software-based inventions, for example software and hardware, control systems, (tele) communications systems, and medical technology. Due to her long-term interdisciplinary work, Ms. Sirava is experienced in communication with experts of various technical disciplines.
Ms. Sirava trained as German patent attorney in a renowned intellectual property law firm in Munich and is German patent attorney since 2008. As patent attorney, she has expertise in areas of patent and trademark law. Particularly, her practice focuses on drafting and prosecution of patent applications, opposition, appeal, nullity, and patent infringement proceedings, drafting of patent infringement and validity opinions.
